Frequently asked questions
Does my voice get sent to VoxaType's servers?
No — this uses your browser's own built-in speech recognition (for example, Google's on Chrome), which processes your voice according to your browser's own privacy policy. VoxaType's servers never see this audio.
Which browsers support this?
Chrome and Edge support live dictation. Firefox and Safari don't currently support the browser API this relies on — if yours doesn't, Audio to Text works from a recording instead.
Is there a usage limit?
No — since this runs through your browser rather than our servers, there's no file size, length, or hourly limit.
Can I edit the text while dictating?
Yes — the text box is always editable, so you can fix a word or add something without stopping dictation.
Is this the same as the VoxaType app?
It's the same idea — speech becomes text automatically — but this page only works while it's open in your browser. VoxaType brings the same kind of dictation into every app on your phone, with AI cleanup on top.
Can I dictate in other languages?
Yes — pick your language from the dropdown next to the Start button before you begin. It defaults to your browser's own language. Because this runs on your browser's built-in speech engine rather than ours, the exact set of supported languages depends on your browser and operating system; the list covers the most widely supported ones. For a language that isn't listed, record the audio and run it through Audio to Text instead, which supports 100 languages.
