Frequently asked questions
Does it separate the lecturer from questions in Q&A?
No — this produces a single continuous transcript without speaker labels. It works well for the lecture content itself; a Q&A segment with multiple voices will read as one continuous stream of text.
Will it get technical or academic terms right?
Mostly, but not perfectly — like any transcription tool, specialized vocabulary and unfamiliar terms are the words most likely to come back wrong, since the model is guessing at words it hasn't seen. Plan to proofread jargon-heavy sections before using the transcript to study.
What lecture recording formats does it accept?
Both audio and video — MP4, WEBM, MOV, MKV, AVI, and 3GP for video, or MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, and FLAC for audio.
My lecture is longer than 20 minutes — what do I do?
Trim it into segments with Audio Trimmer or Video Trimmer (both lossless, so quality won't suffer) and transcribe each one, or run it through Audio Summarizer first if you just need the key points.
Is it free?
Yes. It's free with no account required, limited to a fair-use number of transcriptions per hour.
Is my recording stored anywhere?
No. It's processed in memory during transcription and discarded immediately after — never written to disk or a database.
