My MKV has multiple audio tracks — which one gets transcribed?
The first audio track in the file. If the track you need isn't the default one, select the correct track in a media player and re-export the file before uploading.
Does it work if my MKV has no audio track?
No — it needs an audio track to transcribe. You'll get a clear error if the file has none, on most browsers without uploading anything at all.
Does this only work with MKV files?
No — it also accepts MP4, WEBM, MOV, AVI, and 3GP. This page is tuned for MKV specifically since it's common for downloaded videos, rips, and recordings with multiple audio or subtitle tracks bundled in.
Is it free?

Does my video get uploaded anywhere?
On most browsers, no. The audio track is separated out on your own device and only that small audio file is sent for transcription — the video itself never leaves your computer. Older browsers that can't do this fall back to sending the video, where the audio is extracted to a temporary file just long enough to transcribe it and then deleted immediately. Either way, your video is never stored.
