I have an MP4 — is this a video or audio tool?
MP4 is a video container, so this extracts and transcribes just the audio track — you'll get a text transcript, not a video file back. If you already have an audio-only file, use Audio to Text instead.
Does it work if my MP4 has no audio track?
No — it needs an audio track to transcribe. You'll get a clear error if the file has none.
Does this only work with MP4 files?
No — it also accepts WEBM, MOV, MKV, AVI, and 3GP. This page is tuned for MP4 specifically since it's the most common format for phone videos, screen recordings, and meeting exports.
Is it free?
Yes. It's free with no account required, limited to a fair-use number of transcriptions per hour.
What's the file size and length limit?

Does it upload my video anywhere permanently?
