Why use it
Takes M4A as-is
Apple's Voice Memos and most Android recorders save M4A. Upload it exactly as recorded.
Built for long recordings
90 minutes per file, so a full walk, drive, or lecture fits in one upload.
Accurate on close-mic speech
Memos recorded near the phone come back close to verbatim, punctuation included.
Nothing is kept afterward
The file is processed in memory and discarded the moment the transcript comes back.
Supported formats
Who it's for
- Ideas recorded on the move — Turn the thought you captured walking home into text you can actually edit.
- Interviews and field notes — A phone in your pocket is the recorder most people actually have with them.
- Spoken first drafts — Talk through a draft, then clean the transcript up into prose.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get a voice memo off my iPhone?
Open Voice Memos, tap the recording, tap the three-dot menu, then Share and save it to Files or send it to yourself. It saves as an M4A, which you can upload here directly with no conversion.
Does this work with Android voice recordings?
Yes. Most Android recorders — including Samsung Voice Recorder and Google Recorder — save M4A, which works here. Older recorders that produce AMR or 3GP files are not supported; convert those to M4A or MP3 first.
Will it transcribe a memo recorded in my pocket or in a noisy room?
It will try, and accuracy drops the way you'd expect. Speech recorded at a distance, over background noise, or through fabric loses detail no transcription model can recover. Memos recorded close to the phone in a quiet room come back close to verbatim.
Can it clean up a rambling memo?
This page gives you the raw transcript. To strip the filler words and false starts that voice memos are full of, run the result through Transcript Cleaner, or use Summarize Transcript if you only want the gist of a long recording.
What's the file size and length limit?
Up to 200MB and 90 minutes per file on the free tier.
Is my recording stored on your servers?
No. It's processed in memory during transcription and discarded immediately after — never written to disk or a database.
